I cannot believe I haven't written on here in ages. Since the last blog just days after Zachary's birth, things have been busy. Very busy.
Not even 2 weeks after Zachary arrived, I had to have emergency surgery to get my wisdom removed. The changes in all the hormones made the gums around the wisdom teeth extra sensitive so it resulted in massive inflammation. Unfortunately the $600 we spent on anesthesia for the surgery, failed not even half way through the procedure, making it my least favorite and most painful moment of 2009.
We had my Mom's side of the family in town for Thanksgiving. That was a real treat to see my Grandma, Aunts, Uncle, cousins and their significant others. Poor Zach was going through his colic which made it hard for me to relax and enjoy the company of relatives, but the catching up we did was great.
Our first Christmas in our house with baby Zach went fine. I volunteered at Kyle's school for his class winter party which was special for Kyle. On Christmas Eve we had to take Zachary to Children's Hospital because he was sick with RSV. Thankfully, despite the wheezing, Zach's oxygen levels were good. After the nurses suctioned his nose with a very long tube and loud machine, Zach was discharged and we went to my parents to celebrate the rest of Christmas Eve.
At the end of January Zachary was dedicated at our church. It was a very special day for our him and our family. Our very good family friends, the Marshalls, had their baby daughter Natalie dedicated at the same ceremony as Zach, which made the day even more sweet. After the short ceremony my parents took our family out to dinner at Cheddars and we had a great time.
Fast forward to March...and it has been the busiest month yet. Steve won an award at work and was treated to TWO, very close to front row, seats at Monster Jam at the new Cowboy's Stadium in Arlington. Steve surprised Kyle and it was a ton of fun for those two!
Kyle is doing very well in school. He now plays soccer and has discovered his new favorite sport. He plays pretty well and with all of his soul.
Zachary is doing great, accomplishing all of those major milestones and being really cute. Zach has a very cute personality, at church he's known as the happy baby because it's easy to make him smile and laugh. He is now 5 months old! I cannot believe how fast time has gone since his birth.
I have been busy with the boys, keeping up the house, working 2-3 shifts at church a week doing childcare, and running Kyle to games and other events on the weekend.
At the end of April, Steve and I will be taking our FIRST romantic getaway in 7 years, to San Antonio for a weekend. We are very excited about that and are incredibly grateful to my parents who will be taking care of the boys while we're gone.
In August we will be flying up to Seattle and spending 7 days in Washington and Oregon. We cannot wait to see our family and friends who we have missed for a long time. One week will not be enough time to see and do everything we want to when we're up there.
It's time for me to stop blogging and have one last snowball fight with Kyle before the snow completely melts away. Last night Allen got 5.7 inches of snow, and it's the second day of spring!! We have seen more snow in the last few months than we've seen since Steve's and my years in Spokane.
